Denise LaTrell White 36 was born September 11, 1973 to Willie White Jr. and Lillian White.  She died on April 4th 2010, on Easter morning. This tragic story made national news, but it wasn't how she died, it was how she lived. She would say how she trusted no man; instead she put her trust in God.  Denise received her education in the Kansas City Missouri Public School System. She became a member of the historic Boone Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C at the age of ten, under the leadership of Floyd Henry Thuston.

She was preceded in death by her loving father Willie White Jr., grandfather Willie L. White Sr.; her maternal grandparents Sam and Aurora Martinez; an aunt and uncle and three cousins.

She leaves to cherish her life: her loving mother, Lillian White-Downton of Kansas City; her grandmother Annie Faye Anderson of Louisiana; one son Frank Hernandez Barrett Jr.  Three daughters Denisha Lanae Barrett, Alisea Lashae Barrett and Mya Larae Brooks, all of Kansas City.  Step children Daijanae Tate and Brandon Brooks Jr. Three sisters Angela White-Boyd (Ernest), Kissey White, and Yasmine Guinn, Aliah Guinn, Brittaney Guinn, and Biancah Guinn all of Kansas City; Aminah Moore of Dallas Texas. One brother, Tony Guinn of Kansas City. A step-mother Antoinette White-McDowell, a great niece, Anylah Jackman, extended family members Brandon Brooks and Frank Barrett, the entire Barrett family;  a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. In addition, Denise had an abundant outpour of friends that loved her; she will be dearly missed by all.

Condolences and Words of Rememberance

  • I just learned yesterday that Denise had passed away. I have since went on-line and read and saw the tragic accident. Thank you (the family) for saying ot wasn't how she died, rather how she lived. Denise and I worked together at the lab animal facility. We talked daily. She spoke so highly and lovingly about her children. I can't describe to you the utter shock to learn she has passed away. But I know Denise was SAVED. That was one of the things that we frequently talked about. Had I known I for sure would have been at the services. I had the upmost respect and fondness for Denise. Please know that her four children meant everything to her. And, God, was FIRST in her life.
