December 19, 1941 - June 20, 2010
Jeanette Leatrice Taylor-Crookshank 68, was born December 19, 1941 in Venice, Illinois. Her parents, Pinky Reynolds-Smith and Andrew Taylor preceded her in death. Jeanette was raised in St. Louis, MO and graduated from Soldan High School. Jeanette also attended Central Missouri State College, in Warrensburg, MO.
Jeanette was a dedicated homemaker. In 1963, Jeanette was united in holy matrimony to Nathan Otis Crookshank, and to this union one child was born, Jeanine Patrice Crookshank and they later added two additional children to their family, Anthony Keith Ousley and LaVette Marie Owens-Smith. She was very instrumental in the rearing of her grandchildren, JeTaun LaVette, Derrick DeShaun, and Gregory Nathan. The Crookshanks were always opening their home and hearts to other children. She was especially proud of Darryl & Michael Johnson, just to name a few.
Jeanette was a faithful member of Nash Prayer Band, in St. Louis, MO, where she met her husband during a foot washing service. She later moved to Kansas City, MO in 1963. She then became a dedicated member of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ. If you knew Jeanette, you knew that she loved her family, family gatherings, and cooking for anyone that she could. Her house was always the neighborhood spot for everyone's children. It was a common saying with Parade Park parents, "When in doubt, you can always go to the Crookshank's." She will be greatly missed and forever loved by those whose lives she touched. Jeanette taught everyone she touched how to love without ceasing. Love will be her legacy.
Jeanette made her transition to glory on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at home surrounded by the family that she cherished so dearly. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, Nathan Otis Crookshank, of Kansas City, MO; her loving daughters, Jeanine Patrice Crookshank and LaVette Marie Owens-Smith (Steven), both of Kansas City, MO; her devoted son, Anthony Keith Ousley (Helen), of St. Louis, MO; one younger brother, Eugene Carl Foster (Theola), of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren, JeTaun LaVette Taylor Fitzpatrick, Derrick DeShaun Collins & Gregory Nathan LaMont Fitzpatrick, Titasha Nicole, Tonya Sharell, Anthony Keith, Jr. & Tiffany Diane Ousley; a niece, Lisa Foster, of St. Louis, MO, a nephew LaMont Foster (Chantel), of St. Louis, MO; two cousins Marilyn Merchant (Lou), of Chicago, IL and Lee Franklin of Chicago, IL; three sister in laws, Olivia Williams, of St. Louis, MO, Ivy Ganaway, of Kansas City, MO and Audria Simmons, of St. Louis, MO; dearest friends, Anna & DeMorris Smith, of Kansas City, MO; Margaret Randall & Norma Morgan, of St. Louis, MO; children near and dear to her heart, Derrick Johnson, of Kansas City, MO; Darryl Johnson, of Atlanta, GA; Michael Johnson, of Dallas, TX; Gregory Fitzpatrick, of St. Louis, MO; Jordan Grant, of St. Louis, MO and a slew of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
